There are two ways to buy trim from Trinity Doors. Stock mouldings are the standard profiles we keep on the shelf — crown, cove, base, light rail, and similar — described on our cabinet mouldings and moldings page and ready to pick up. Custom millwork is different: it is made to order, cut to a profile you specify or supply, in the species and dimensions your project requires.

You want custom millwork when a stock profile does not exist for what you are building, when a designer or architect has specified a particular profile, or when you need trim that matches a run of moulding already installed in a home. Instead of settling for the closest catalog match, custom millwork gives you the exact shape — which is often the difference between trim that looks original and trim that looks added-on.

One of the most valuable things a millwork shop can do is reproduce a profile that is no longer available. Older homes, additions, and repairs constantly run into this: a section of crown, casing, or base needs to be replaced or extended, but the original moulding was discontinued years ago and nothing off the shelf matches its shape.

Trinity Doors handles this by matching the profile — taking a physical sample or a clean end-grain tracing of the existing trim and setting up our moulder to cut new stock in the same shape. Bring us a short offcut of the original moulding, and we can evaluate whether we can reproduce it and mill new material to match. The closer the sample, the closer the match.
